Complexification
from the mind of  Unknown.

Complexification | Gallery of Computation is a very cool gallery. Several members of the LXCG are deep into this kind of thing... who knew it could be so beautiful.

Enjoy. (It is absolutely safe for work, though finding this site might reduce your productivity drastically.)

Our 'Unbiased' Media
from the mind of  Unknown.

I am going to leave a lot of 'un-named' things in this post. The specifics aren't important to the story.

I work at a newspaper. (yes, it's a daily.) I am in the advertising, or as some of us say, the 'capitolist' department of the newspaper. Our bureau is one of the few that does not separate the advertising people from the editorial people by any physical barrier other than an isle. So, there is still a great deal of interaction between both parts of the staff.

When President Bush announced his choice for the vacant supreme court seat, we turned on the TV to watch the press conference live. As we were watching the coverage, I couldn't help but hear a voice from the 'other' side of the building murmering a word that starts with 'bullsh' and ends with 'it' after every statement the President made about his selection. President Bush might say "He is most knowledgable about the law of our great land" and this person would say BS. It became such a solid mantra for this certain staffer that I began to wonder if President Bush had announced the name of his selection's dog, if this certain staffer still would have let the overused word fly. This is probably no surprise to those of you who are skeptical about the biases in the media.

Now, here lies the problem. This person is not a reporter... not a photographer... this person is a layout artist for the paper. The community is a very well balanced political community, probably falling on the conservative side of things by just a bit. The news coverage is fairly balanced as well... well, local stuff is. The problem is that the AP feeds that we get for the paper go through this person. Photo selection for national stories go through this person... basically, much of the communitiy's world news (other than the skewed TV news from the 'big three') goes through this person as well.

I no longer wonder why I haven't seen a flattering photograph of President Bush in our local rag. The person in charge is blinded by hatred so much that the job is no longer correctly done.

Looks like I'm off to visit Instapundit.

We will see if Oliver Stone knows the definition of 'about'...
from the mind of  Unknown.

Oliver Stone to Direct Film about 9/11

OK, this is about as sane as having Michael Moore direct a film on shaving technique or low fat cooking. We will get the facts as accurately as the CBS Rather memos depicted Bush's service. This movie will be as informative as an electronic readerboard in a power outtage.

I wonder if he will pass the script by his buddy Castro to get his approval before filming.

This is one movie I will not see. Looks like 'Fake but accurate' is going to be the norm of the elite media.
